Satellite Footprint
In 2015, the footprints changed to two primary components from Astra 2E, 2F and 2G satellites.
The effect of the narrowing footprint varies by location, this affects the Freeview terrestrial channels mainly.
Most users in the northern regions of central Europe can still receive UK channels using standard dishes, 80cm and upwards is usually recommended.
Reception remains possible but typically requires dishes between 1.2 metres or above and depending on location and weather conditions, atmospherics, time of the year. Sky Stream would be the best option.
Many regions that once received UK channels prior to 2012 on dishes under 1 metre now require dishes of 3 metres or larger. Some channels are completely unavailable even with large dishes. BBC, ITV are difficult to receive. Sky Stream would be an essential option.
Satellite reception varies massively, with some regions benefiting from odd beam irregularities while others lie outside reliable service. Reports indicate localized “hot spots” and “cold spots” due to the shape of the beam and this can change at certain times of the year.
All in all Sky Stream would be future proof TV without the reliance upon satellite coverage.

The European LNB needs to be aligned correctly to maximise the potential of the signal quality. Good Quality Coax Cable from Antenna to below deck equipment and a Good Satellite IF Distribution system.
